Aerial View
of Coast

The cottage faces south east and is situated in open countryside a few fields away from the farm and stands about 20yds (separated by a grove of trees) from the main road which just leads to St. Davids. After 6 minutes walk the pebble beach, coast and coastal path are reached.

In the cottage one is not aware of the road, while the stream which flows by the cottage is heard in the front garden. Two neighbouring houses stand just beyond the trees.

There is a large lawned rear garden and a paved patio area with flower borders in front with garden chairs and table. Ample parking space is next to the cottage.

Artists and photographers draw inspiration through the ever changing  lighting conditions of the natural environment, enhanced by the sea air. Others enjoy the countryside and its slower pace of life.

From the cottage follow the millers track and after 5 minutes walk, on reaching the rise, the sea comes into view. In front is the little rocky cove of Porth-y-Rhaw.

Heading east, after about a 30 minute walk along the cliff top coast path, the tranquil fishing village of Solva with its pubs and restaurants is reached.

An hours walk west from Porth-y-Rhaw leads to St. Davids passing Caerfai beach and Carbwdi, from where stone was quarried to build the St. Davids Catherdral.

From the cliff top spectacular views out across St. Brides Bay can be enjoyed with the islands of Skomer, Skokholm, Grassholm and Ramsey on the skyline.

In the vicinity are large and small sandy beaches, welsh history, craft outlets, restaurants and other places of interest.

Climate
and Weather

Pembrokeshire has a mild winter with only a handful of frosty nights and a cool summer where the temperature rarely goes above 25°C. The sea breeze keeps the temperature down but you will still get tanned!

During Autumn and Winter, Atlantic storms are a regular feature of the weather which generate the waves which carve the coast line. This is something to experience!

From April until August, days can be quite warm so that shorts and a T-shirt will do along with sun lotion. People swim in the sea mainly from late May until the end of August.

Rain can be expected at any time of the year which keeps the countryside green, but usually the old adage "Rain before 7 (am), Fine by 11 (am)" prevails!
